Logic in Art

This being the fourth week of my junior year as an art student i have realized how overwhelming things can get. Art really does take a tole on ones body physically and mentally. i know we "Artists" do complain and pout about how some people don't understand us, but to an extent it is true! Some people act like art is not part of traditional education, such as reading, writing, science, or math... but they are way off base. This semester i am also taking a Logic class, and that is what got me thinking about this topic. Art is like Logic. One has to come up with an original idea, create it, and make it mean something not only to themselves but the viewers as well. In logic it works the same way, one states their idea, and backs it up with claims so that other people will be interested and believe what they are saying. This is where the people who think art is all simple are wrong... granted simplistic art is not a bad thing. They are wrong because not only does it take ALOT of time to create your art, but you have to back up your artwork with deeper ideas and meaning that you want to portray to your viewers. So let me ask you this, is a painting of a tree simply a painting of a tree?
